Ritual Coffee Roasters

Our Story

ABOUT OUR MISSION CAFÉ

A furniture store in its past life, this cafe on the south end of the Valencia corridor was our first.

Still near and dear to our hearts, this cavernous room is where Ritual became a daily ritual for so many in the neighborhood and caffeinated more than a few artists, writers, and start-up entrepreneurs on their way to the next big thing. We roasted and packed all of our coffees here, played the music way too loud, and became a new San Francisco classic.

Remodeled in 2013 with a bright, airy feel – like a coffee church with gardens and sunken ship parklets, and custom neon lighting. The original Ritual is still our guiding light.

OUR VALUES
  • BE NICE - Being nice is never the exception to the rule. It’s just as important to us as making the best coffee.
  • HAVE FUN - Our obsession with great coffee will never keep us from having fun along the way.
  • BE INCLUSIVE - Coffee is for everyone. We create a safe, welcoming environment on both sides of the counter.
  • HAVE INTEGRITY - We build win-win relationships with everyone we work with and treat them as part of the Ritual family.
  • CHALLENGE THE STATUS QUO - We don’t pretend to have it all figured out. It’s part of who we are and we like it that way. We’ll always try to make the Ritual experience even better.

ABOUT OUR ROASTERY

We moved into our Roastery, a serendipitously painted red and white former door hardware factory, in 2009.

Manufacturing in the heart of the city was always something we’ve been passionate about, and this cavernous space on the edge of downtown is a place to do just that – featuring a working roastery outfitted with a vintage German Probat roaster, production line, and offices, along with our training lab. It’s where the magic happens, and we can hardly wait to resume hosting events and tours.

ABOUT OUR NAPA CAFÉ

The Oxbow Public Market in Napa buzzes yet again, and once you’re caffeinated it’s a one-stop shop for everything else that’s delicious (plus books!)

Ritual holds court here at a three-sided open format coffee bar at the north end of the Public Market – kinda like Napa’s version of the SF Ferry Building Marketplace. We opened at Oxbow in 2008, and our neighbors at the market represent the very best in what they do, including Fatted Calf Charcuterie, Hog Island Shellfish, Fieldworks Brewing, and many more.

In 2015 we built an experiential coffee bar in the stall next door called The Cup and Star, currently on hiatus due to the pandemic. No worries, you can still get it to-go and enjoy the Market’s gigantic new deck overlooking the Napa River.
