The coffee trend of 2022; meeting at the office, with good coffee!

Do you also work from home most of the week? The pandemic has made working from home the new normal. And as a result, we realize more and more what a working environment mainly means: meeting. A chance meeting with a co-worker during a coffee break can provide just that touch of inspiration you didn't know you needed for your next big idea. And you miss exactly that meeting when you're working all day at your own kitchen table.

Nevertheless, working from home is experienced as positive by many employees. That is why many companies and organizations want to (partially) keep working from home in the future. This means that people will mainly come to work to meet colleagues, consult, and be among people. Many companies and organizations are currently preparing for this future by realizing more meeting spaces and coffee gardens.

And especially that coffee garden – or coffee corner, canteen, whatever you call it – is becoming increasingly important. Because sparring and brainstorming with your colleagues is much nicer with a delicious cup of coffee or tea within reach? Research even shows that smell and taste experience contributes to feeling better at your workplace. And nothing beats the smell of fresh coffee.

Employees want the coffee at the office the same as at home

Just like in hip coffee shops, the days of 'with sugar and milk' are over at the office. Due to the many working from home during the pandemic, many employees have become much more involved in coffee. They have started drinking different coffee at home, know more about its origin, opt for more sustainable coffee or want a certain topping such as plant-based milk. We also like to drink a latte macchiato or a flat white prepared with fresh milk while we are at work. And we want to be able to make the same choices at work as at home. Do you prefer to drink your cappuccino with oat milk and Fairtrade-certified coffee at home? Why not at work too? The trends that have existed in the hospitality industry for some time are now also breaking through in the office. A good thing, if you ask us!

Drink more sustainable coffee

More and more people are engaged in social engagement. For example, climate change is a current topic that we can no longer ignore. We are dealing with natural disasters worldwide. There is also more drought and extreme rainfall. This means that a large part of the coffee harvest is in danger of failing. Ultimately, this in turn leads to an ever higher coffee price. But we also want to live more sustainably in another way. For example, we want to know the origin of our products. From which country does the coffee come, is it sustainably produced, under what working conditions, what certificates does the coffee have? As a coffee supplier, we are also actively involved in sustainability. And we look much further than just the coffee. Read more about this in our CSR policy.

Plant-based milk in your coffee

Since 2019, the trend of plant-based milk is really visible. Consumers are increasingly drinking plant-based milk at home and in the hospitality industry and there are now several variants and brands on the market. We also want a vegan solution for coffee. This trend is now also being extended to the office. But a vegan solution in the office is not yet very common. Read the article about the vegan coffee corner here.
