Are you bored, exactly? Why are you not amused? Both the World Brewers Cup and the 2022 World Barista Championship have ended, and boy, were they barn burners. Like in other sports, when the finest compete, the events are the most delectably entertaining to witness. And it is safe to say that all 12 contestants who are still alive from the Melbourne International Coffee Expo gave it their all over the entire week.

It is frequently feared that contests won't be able to live up to the expectation when the fields are this strong, but this year for both the WBC and WBrC, the hype was genuine. Every contestant has some level of World Coffee Championships experience, with the exception of two competitors in each event, Morgan Eckroth and Anthony Douglas in the WBC and Jhon Christopher and Simen Anderson in the WBrC. (and success).

Don't get me wrong, everyone loves an underdog, and seeing a Cinderella make a deep run will always be something to cheer for, but you can't help but be amazed at the poise and confidence that these veteran competitors continued to bring under extremely stressful, all-or-nothing scenarios, even as the stakes got higher and higher; they've been here before and they acted like it.

There is a lot to unpack in these 12 routines, and we will do so in the coming weeks when we review the film and interview the winners in-depth. However, for now, it is important to take a moment to reflect on what we have just watched and the people who brought it to us. Here are the outcomes of the World Barista Championship and World Brewers Cup Finals in 2022.
