The winter landscape glimpsed through the window, family and friends gathered under one roof, a set table and a lit fireplace. What could be nicer?

The least exciting moment comes at the end of the day, however, when friends leave, the fireplace goes out and it's our turn to clean it up.

There is an easy, quick and very inexpensive way to do this through recycling coffee grounds. Read on to find out what it is.

Recycling coffee grounds to clean the chimney

Coffee grounds lend themselves very much to the practice of creative recycling: they are used to fertilize plants, to make DIY beauty products such as face masks or anti-cellulite body scrubs, but their uses are really many.

Returning to the fireplace, however, the main problem with cleaning it is the ashes that are likely to spread all over the house.

To prevent that from happening, follow these tips when you pick it up.

First set aside the coffee grounds in a bowl and wet them with water so they become heavier. That done, spread the coffee grounds on the bottom of the fireplace and mix it with the ashes.

By doing so, you will prevent the ashes from rising and can easily remove them with a brush or broom. Try using this technique also to clean the barbecue after a fabulous cookout with your friends.
