With a new recruitment drive emphasizing the company's capacity to provide a strong work-life balance for all of its workers, the upscale bakery and coffee business hopes to stop the exodus of staff from the hospitality sector.

Gail's, a chain of bakery cafés in the UK, has started a new recruitment campaign that encourages employees to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

According to the firm, more than 50% of UK hospitality employees would think about leaving the field because of the unsociable hours.

The campaign, titled "The Early Bird Never Works Late," focuses on Gail's regular working hours, which allow staff members to begin early and have time later in the day to spend with friends and family.

According to Oli Cavaliero, Group Head of Talent at Gail's, 35% of management applications are from employees who are currently employed in late-night operations and want to stay in the business while reclaiming their nights for social and family activities.

"With bakeries shutting at 7 p.m., workers may take advantage of work-friendly hospitality hours without having to work late shifts, spending the evenings with their families or engaging in their hobbies. Gail's does not operate in multiple shifts like late-night hospitality establishments do. Well-being and maintaining a work-life balance are significant to Gail's and are among the most crucial considerations for job candidates, according to Gail's.

Gail's, which was established in 2005, currently runs about 80 outlets in London and the south of England.

In September 2021, Gail's Bakery and The Bread Factory were purchased by US investment company Bain Capital Credit from Bread Holdings for an unknown sum.
