ESE Pads

ESE Pads

ESE (Easy Serving Espresso) is the global industry standard for coffee beans and existed long before the plastic or aluminum pods we see now. ESE capsules cannot be used in a pod machine, as you would expect - only incompatible espresso machines. But there are dozens of models that will accept them.

The term ESE comes from the Easy Serving Espresso pod which is a small packed coffee pod covered in a paper filter in order to be used in a non-grinding espresso machine. The E.S.E standard was created by Italian Illy in the ’70s and it is maintained by the Consortium for the Development and the Protection of the ESE Standard.

ESE can be used by all coffee roasters and machine manufacturers and it is often self-acclaimed and the only open system available in the sector of espresso coffee prepared with paper pods. The pod is placed inside a pod adapter in a normal espresso machine or inside the brewing chamber.

Each ESE pod contains 7 grams of coffee that are compressed into the filter pod that has a 44mm diameter. In the past, many USA home single-serving brewers used 55mm filter pods which means that the ESE could not be used, because it was smaller. The Senseo pads were also incompatible as well because their diameter was 70mm.

The ESE was designed and created by illy in 1989 as an effort to sell convenience for espresso home preparation. In February 1998, the Consortium for the Development and the Protection of the ESE Standard was created by seven coffee roasters and machine manufacturers as guardians of the ESE brand and standard. The ESE was created especially with the intention of being an open design in order to encourage wide adoption and to give coffee lovers the freedom of choice and guarantee quality.

What Type of Coffee Machine Takes ESE Coffee Pods?

As the name suggests, easily served espresso pods are an easy way to make espresso but you will need an espresso machine before you can use them. If you are using a bean coffee machine, then you do not need to consider using these teabag coffee bags, as the bean cup coffee machine already has a coffee grinder built into the machine. The machine will grind the grains fresh for you and will automatically produce the espresso machine without the need for any other preparation.

If you want to use the espresso machine, but do not want the inconvenience or confusion of dealing with ground coffee beans, ESE pods are a convenient alternative to consider.

All you have to do is insert a box/bag into the filter holder and insert it into the machine normally and you're done. However, before you jump in, there are a number of things to consider in deciding if this is the best option for your needs.

ESE pods contain 7 grams of coffee, which is enough for just one espresso machine. Most people like a double espresso, because you then have a fairly strong coffee, to which you can then add milk to create a cappuccino or milk if it is the drink of your choice.

Cafes will always use a double espresso for all their drinks, so if you want to make a decent drink, then you will have to use two ESE pods every time you make a coffee. From a time perspective, it's not really a problem, you'll just have to use two beans for every coffee you make, which will only take about 1 minute in total.

The main thing to consider is cost. You get the convenience with no hassle and no hassle, but it costs a little more than buying whole beans and grinding them yourself. Probably the most important thing to think about is whether they are as good as grinding grains.

ESE pods vs. Coffee Beans

There are many different types of coffee capsules available on the market, other than ESE and Senseo beans, such as Nespresso, Tassimo, and Dolce Gusto. The price and taste, there is a premium price to be paid on most capsule systems, and we consider the flavor of coffee produced from an ESE pod to be far better.

The major problem with these other capsule systems is that, at present, they are closed standards and thus are made exclusively by a toaster: Nespresso is made by Nestle, etc. So if you choose a Nespresso-compatible car, stick with Nestle coffee. We now have compatible capsules from four factories for the Nespresso system, so the choice of coffee and blends is increasing, so the price per capsule is also low, but lawsuits are still being made.

ESE bridges are made to a broad industry standard and are therefore available from a number of toaster vests, including big names such as Illy, Lavazza, and Segafredo. So with an ESE-compatible espresso machine, you have a much wider range of coffee. Not only that but with many ESE compatible machines, you have the option of making espresso in the traditional way as well.

The coffee pot is freshly roasted coffee, perfectly ground, modified at the correct pressure, and then encapsulated in the paper. The bridges are made to a standard size of 44mm with 6.8g - 7.5g of coffee on the pods, as well as the 62mm coffee bridge with 8g of coffee used in the Philips Senseo coffee machine. The original bridge was designed by Illy Cafe over 20 years ago, in 1996, Illy opened up the idea of the coffee industry to bring a standard size of beans to market. Many car companies now offer adapters with their cars to accept bridges. Using pods in your device not only can you guarantee perfect results, but there is also no confusion and the bridges help you take care of your car. In fact, used pods can even be used as fertilizer for your garden!

Also known as coffee grounds, coffee, or espresso coffee, pods are an easy way to make perfect espresso with excellent results.

By replacing the filter plate in the filter/group handle, most traditional machines can use easy pods, there is no need to buffer, no old packages are left and no separate grinder is needed. Our coffee beans are individually packaged in laminated bags to keep the flavor and aroma fresh. There are many sizes of coffee beans available now, but mainly the two sizes are now used by most coffee machines. The 44 mm bridge is mainly used in espresso pumps and the 62 mm bridge is used in Philips Senseo and black & decker cafes, as well as in other brands.
