Having gone viral thanks to multiple shares on social media, proffee is the new fad of the moment. The word comes from the union of "protein" and "coffee" and refers, precisely, to a protein coffee.

Doing some research, we find out that the birth of the drink is due to Tik Tok, the social app so beloved by the younger generation.

Let's see in detail what proffee is, but more importantly to whom it is most or least suitable.

What proffee is for and how to prepare it

If you exercise frequently, pay close attention to your figure, and need to follow a particular diet, then proffee is the drink for you. In fact, it helps to give the body an amount of protein that we would otherwise be unable to absorb during the day.

Preparation is very simple. You will only need three ingredients:

  • Coffee.
  • Ice.
  • Protein preparation.

First, prepare a coffee; a double is better. For this drink, we recommend the Classic Recipe, which contains a higher amount of caffeine and is therefore particularly energizing.

Pour your coffee into a wide glass, add ice cubes, and then the protein preparation. Stir well, and your proffee is ready.

Of course, many people add other types of ingredients, such as oats, almond milk, cinnamon, and caramel. But remember, each of these greatly increases the calories in your drink.

When to drink proffee

There is no one-size-fits-all rule. Certainly, since it is an energizing drink, it would be best to take it in the morning at breakfast so that you have enough energy for the whole day. If you are looking for ideas and inspiration for a balanced diet, follow our tips on how to prepare a healthy and nutritious breakfast at home.

For those who practice intense training, on the other hand, it could be great to drink after physical activity to nourish the muscles and repair any damage to the muscle strips. It is also important to specify that it would be best to drink the proffee without sugar to take effect.

Contraindications of protein coffee

We have already mentioned the benefits of protein on muscles and energy in general. Remember, however, that these foods are by no means substitutes for a healthy diet. In fact, our bodies need protein just as much as they need fats and carbohydrates.

So, before changing your lifestyle and diet, seek medical advice. Proffee can be a valuable ally, but you should not overdo the amounts.
