Mochaccino is not a coffee or even a cappuccino, but a much more mouth-watering version born from the intertwining of these two drinks and the addition of a special ingredient: chocolate. Now popular in bars all over Italy, mocaccino is liked because it is extremely easy to prepare, versatile to use in the creation of numerous recipes and really very tasty.

Origins of mochaccino

It is not known for sure where this drink originated. Of the many theories, the most plausible is the one that likens it to the Piedmont tradition of Turin's famous bicerin.

In fact, if we take a look at the ingredients, we realize that they are practically identical: the only difference is the cream, which is present in the Turin drink and absent in the mochaccino.

If you are a fan of special coffee preparations, don't miss three different gourmet coffee recipes for a special and definitely mouth-watering break.

Mochaccino: the homemade recipe

There are a few variations of this delicious preparation, some of which include the use of a cocoa topping. We will prepare mochaccino according to the original recipe, made with dark chocolate.

Ingredients for 4 people:

  • 4 espresso coffees.
  • 800 ml fresh whole milk.
  • 100 g dark chocolate.
  • Sugar.
  • Bitter cocoa powder to taste.

Preparation

First make flakes by chopping the chocolate with a kitchen knife. Next heat 100 ml of milk in a small saucepan, to which you will add the chocolate chips. Stir with the heat off until they have melted.

Pour this preparation into the bottom of 4 cups. To ensure an original visual effect, we recommend using glass cups without handles.

With the help of the steam jet of the coffee machine, whip the milk until it reaches the consistency of a foam. Distribute some into the cups, but try not to shake the contents, because the layers of the drink should be separated and clearly visible.

Now it is time for the espresso. You can choose the blend you prefer to enrich your mochaccino: the Intenso compatible capsules, if you want a strong and creamy aroma, or the Supermiscela Espresso Casa, to enjoy a genuine and energizing coffee, as good as at the bar.

We're almost there: sweeten your coffee according to your taste and that of your guests and, to finish, sprinkle it with bitter cocoa or a pinch of cinnamon.

And enjoy a moment of sweet relaxation with your mochaccino now.
