The benefits of coffee and its uses are many and are not limited only to cooking. Among them, did you know that it is possible to make a fragrant homemade coffee soap? It is simple, inexpensive and absolutely safe.

Some uses of coffee in cosmetics and beyond

Before we look at the process for making your own homemade soap, let us reveal some interesting facts about the use of coffee.

Do you ever cook fish and use spices or flavorings that are so persistent that you can't get the smell out of your kitchen or your hands? This is one of those cases where coffee can be your valuable ally: try using it to create a coffee room scent.

Regarding cosmetics, on the other hand, coffee is widely used to treat scalp and skin impurities. In this regard, you might try the coffee and aloe vera scrub, a real pampering pamper for your body.

Homemade coffee soap without caustic soda

There are many recipes for making coffee soap, most of which use caustic soda. This is because, on a professional level, this ingredient is essential to bring the saponification process to life.

In our case, however, it will be sufficient to use coffee grounds to have an equally fragrant and much safer result.

Ingredients

  • 250 ml of Marseille soap, preferably unscented.
  • 220 ml distilled water.
  • 10 ml of vegetable oil (olive oil, jojoba oil, seed oil, whichever you prefer).
  • 5 drops of essential oil.
  • Coffee grounds.

As for the equipment, you will need:

  • 1 wooden spoon.
  • Silicone molds.
  • 2 small pots.

Procedure

First reduce the soap into flakes using a knife or grater. Then melt the flakes in a double boiler, stirring with a wooden spoon, and add the water a little at a time until it has reached a good density.

Now add the vegetable oil, continuing to stir, and then the essential oil drops. To finish, combine the coffee grounds and pour the mixture into the molds.

For a more creative decoration, try adding coffee beans to the final mixture.
