Are you looking for the coffees that are all out there? You have coffees with milk and coffees without milk. In this article you will find all the coffees without milk. Let's get started!

ESPRESSO COFFEES

If you are looking for recipes for coffee without milk, 9 times out of 10, you end up with espresso. This is because you often drink black coffee, where espresso is the base. You also have other methods of preparation with black coffee. You'll discover them in this article. Let's start by putting the coffees with espresso in order from strong to not so strong:

  • Ristretto
  • Espresso or doppio
  • Lungo
  • Caffè americano

RISTRETTO

A ristretto is the strongest coffee there is. In terms of taste, that is, because although the taste suggests a lot of caffeine, a ristretto has very little caffeine. This is because the same amount of coffee is used (about 7 grams) as an espresso, but with less water. Namely, half of an espresso (15ml). The brewing time remains the same (between 20 and 35 seconds). You drink a ristretto so you crave a taste explosion!

ESPRESSO OR DOPPIO

The espresso is the king of black coffee. As mentioned before, many black coffees have espresso as their base. An espresso has a powerful flavor. A single espresso is about 30ml. In other words, a small cup. You brew espresso in an espresso machine with about 7 grams of coffee. You let the water run for between 20 and 30 seconds for a perfect extraction time. Want more espresso? Then make a doppio. This is a double espresso.

Tip: Stir an espresso with a spoon before drinking it. This way you make sure that all the acids (which are released first, so lie at the bottom of your cup), the sweet and finally the bitter are well mixed! That way you avoid a sour last sip ;)

CAFFÈ AMERICANO

The caffè americano is perfect if you like espresso but find the taste a bit too strong. With an americano you mix the brewed espresso with hot water after preparation.

LUNGO

Many people think that a lungo is the same as an americano. But nothing could be further from the truth; there really is a difference here. Namely, with a lungo, more water is added to an espresso during preparation. With an amerecino, you add the water later.

The difference in taste between an americano or lungo? Because a lungo uses more water during preparation, your coffee gets a richer taste.

ICED COFFEE

With iced coffee, espresso is also the base. The recipe is simple: ice cubes in a glass and pour your espresso over it!

SERVE YOUR ESPRESSO IN STYLE

Of course, all those coffees deserve a beautiful presentation. Bialetti, who does not know this coffee brand, has a nice assortment of espresso and coffee cups.

BREWING METHODS FOR BLACK COFFEE

Coffee without milk is not only brewed with an espresso machine. You can also brew black coffee with other brewing methods. Namely also with a hario V60 or the Chemex.

Cold brew and nitro coffee are also coffees without milk. But these coffees are again really quite different in taste. For starters, they are cold! With cold brew, the coffee is brewed with cold water and then left to steep for up to 24 hours. This gives an explosive flavor. With nitro coffee, you drink your coffee, yes, on tap. Adding nitrogen and serving it from the tap creates a layer of foam. A very special experience to drink coffee, it seems to me!
