Although you may know the dessert drink as affogato, the full name of this delicious concoction is affogato al Caffe, which means "drowned in coffee." An excellent name because the classic recipe for affogato is simply a scoop of ice cream and an espresso shot poured over it.

That simple recipe is pretty easy to make at home, but there are a few different ways to turn your affogato al Caffe into art. You can go the classic route and use vanilla gelato instead of regular ice cream, you can freeze your glass for a frozen look and excellent presentation, or you can even garnish it with a variety of options. The affogato is the perfect dessert for dinner parties and other gatherings.

For the final presentation, you should consider buying an affogato glass. You can, of course, use whatever you want, but people don't make affogato glass for anything. The shape of the glass is essential. The bottom is narrower, and the glass becomes wider towards the top. This allows the ice to stop halfway and melt at the bottom. This then mixes with the espresso and is both delicious and beautiful.
