Sugar bowls for optimal serving and storage

On January 6, 2017, food scientist and Youtuber Ann Reardon invented the sugar balloon bowl and uploaded it to her website and Youtube a week later. They are made using helium-quality balloons filled with water, then hot candy is poured over them, allowed to cool, and then deflated upside down. The video has garnered over 2.1 million views, and news outlets and other articles have tried it.

To store your sugar or other sugar alternatives in a functional and decorative way, you should consider using a suitable sugar dispenser or sugar bowl. A sugar dispenser is practical because it's usually made of glass, so it's directly visible when it needs to be refilled. Additionally, sugar dispensers typically require very little space and are a sugar bowl and dispenser in one piece.

However, sugar can also be stored in practical and stylish sugar bowls. We offer different items for every taste. In true Danish style, the sugar bowl is made of high-quality and sturdy stoneware, reminiscent of typical Scandinavian sand and nature. Since the designs of stoneware sugar bowls are often simple and high-quality, they are also suitable for any kitchen and interior. For purists, we recommend alternative sugar bowls made of stainless steel or glass, which bring more elegance to your own four walls. The sugar bowl made of stainless steel is not only durable, but also practical and dishwasher safe, so cleaning is quick and easy.

Where does sugar come from?

Sugar comes mainly from beet juice. Beets are usually washed after harvest, chopped, and then added to hot water, from which juice is produced. Next comes the so-called "refining" step. The industrial production of beet sugar dates back to the early 19th century. By the way, another way to get sugar is to harvest sugar cane or coconut flowers.

Today, sugar cane is grown mainly in South America, the Caribbean, the United States, China, and India. For optimal growth, sugarcane requires a subtropical to the tropical climate and long-term high levels of moisture. Traditionally it was harvested by hand, but now machines are often used for this purpose. Sugar juice is harvested by pressing the plants, then "crystallized" and "refined" into what we know as sucrose.
