Caffè Roen background

Caffè Roen

Our Story

The Caffè Roen roastery was founded in 1979 in Pacengo di Lazise, on the shores of Lake Garda. Thanks to his experience in the coffee sector, Sergio Bendinelli decided to found his own roastery, to produce espresso according to his taste. At the beginning, he used a small roaster that allowed him to develop the first blends and start a small production mainly intended for the Ho.Re.Ca. sector.

In the first years of coffee roasting, Caffè Roen established itself through the seriousness and quality of its products. The customers who, taste after taste, fell in love with Caffè Roen have become more and more numerous, thus fueling his desire to offer an excellent and particular coffee, investing more and more in research and innovation.

What has happened since then shows how commitment and seriousness are always rewarded with great satisfaction. In Affi, in the province of Verona, a new site was built to house the new production facilities and, later, the tasting and training rooms.

The move to Affi also coincided with significant changes in the company; the owner was joined by new collaborators and the opening towards foreign markets began. This choice turned out to be far-sighted and was definitively consolidated with the entry of his son Enrico into the company, who, thanks to his degree in languages, began to deal with the export sector, also bringing a wave of innovation and dynamism.

The last few years have been studded with successes for the Caffè Roen roastery:

  • Increase and development of European markets with ever greater success especially among coffee lovers and admirers of the Italian espresso
  • Increase in quality in the selection of raw coffees with the development of new product control and traceability procedures
  • Participation in international competitions with numerous prizes won by the company's flagship blends
  • Entry of new collaborators to enhance sales and production while always maintaining the craftsmanship of the product at every stage of processing
  • Educational offer in the field of coffee with workshops, courses and guided tastings for both the public and professionals in the sector

THE ROASTING PROCESS

Inside our artisan roastery in Affi, province of Verona, every day we work with commitment and dedication to offer you the best coffee beans. After careful selection and rigorous quality control, the coffee beans, a precious raw material, can begin their journey within artisanal roasting. A journey led by our master roaster, who will transform raw beans into coffee beans perfect for the classic Italian espresso or for any preparation with milk, allowing them to express all their flavours and aromas.

The careful selection of raw coffees takes place on the basis of origin, processing, species, size and development, constituting the basis for the production of a quality blend for Italian espresso. This is possible only thanks to the knowledge and experience gained in years of activity.

Coffee is a product of nature and for this reason it may happen that some batches do not have the quality requirements required by our blends. For this reason, on each batch we receive, roasting and tasting tests are carried out to evaluate the organoleptic characteristics, in order to guarantee consistency in the quality of our artisan coffee.

All our blends are toasted with our low-temperature drum roaster, ensuring the full development of the aromas of each individual bean.

It is essential that roasting is carried out directly by the expert hand of the master roaster, who with his experience and expertise is able to calibrate the process on every single blend and batch of raw coffee.

In fact, not all raw coffees are the same: depending on the origin, species, processing and harvest year they have different roasting behaviors, which involves a major challenge for the roaster, who must be able to manage roasting in based on their characteristics.

For the packaging of our products we use a latest generation automatic packaging machine, with a degassing valve applicator, in combination with a semi-automatic packaging machine for small quantities, so as to guarantee speed and flexibility in both small and large productions. All our products are packaged exclusively in bean form, a few days after roasting. This is because only by packaging fresh coffee in whole beans it is possible to minimize the oxidation of their delicate aromas, which otherwise would degrade quickly if the coffee was packaged already ground.
