Burundi - Gahahe - Partners Coffee

WHY IT'S SPECIAL

We love this time of year—fresh coffees have just arrived from our farm relationships in the Southern Hemisphere. This is our third consecutive year buying coffee from the Gahahe Central Washing Station in Kayanza, Burundi, who have once again delivered us an exceptional coffee.

This year we've decided to release Gahahe in unison with Karambi (from neighboring Rwanda). Though the two countries share mutual history, climate, and agricultural practices, their coffees can be quite different in flavor. We like to say Rwanda's coffees are like more fresh fruit and Burundi's are more like dried fruit. 

The size of this year's harvest was limited by poor weather, but the quality is as good as ever, with flavors that call to mind golden raisin, dried fig, crème brûlée, molasses, and honey.
